Emotions vs. Critical Thinking

How does one draw the line between emotions and rationally, critically thinking and coming up with a conclusion? Say for example its a very sensitive issue that one has to make a major decision about.. Something "life-changing". How can one make it through without emotions clouding their judgement?

  1. isn't it rational to be considerate of your emotions? wouldn't we want our emotions to be considered if something is really so "life-changing"?

  2. In the enxt class, please ask me to comment ion the limits of critical thinking, & on our model. There's also some litertaure which clarifies this broad but very interesting topic.

Briefly a s aheads up, our model is very logic based & doe snot handle the issue of emotions (feelign) very well. Similarly it doe spick on intuition, eq, spirtuality, etc.

  3. How is it possible to draw the line bw emotions and ct? see sir, the thing is I am very much propelled in life by emotions. It becomes difficult for me to think if I am very happy or very angry. How do I balance that out? How do I make my guidelines? Cause at that point I am not thinking about the elements or standards. My mind is say full of red because of rage.

  4. Hahaha. Mahin, we've spoken about this, i told yoou, you have a problem.
Jokes aside. I think that Emotions being part of our decision is as Adeel said, Important. However I also feel that Emotions can be misleading and not always guide us the right way. Anger, Hatred, Spite and Love can be very very very misleading. And may influence to make choices which we may regret in the future. Therefore I think that as a critical thinker one should no doubt take into one's emotions into account but not allow them to be one's guiding force.
