How do i analyze myself?

Sir i wanted to ask that what i understood as the first step towards critical thinking is analyzing yourself, but how do i know what is right and what is wrong? To answer this i will have to compare myself to my surroundings and to other people which means before analyzing myself i try to think over them, which ends up into a mess from where to begin...i am confused.... Help needed

  1. Think about weaknesses and strengths...and convert your weaknesses into strengths, You can compare your skills with other people to evaluate yourself.

Example: If you're hasty in making decisions and try to bring a change and make more focussed and calculated decisions, it will have positive impacts, think about other areas.

  2. Asad, I think you point out your own answer in the question. While analyzing yourself, you will think of WHO you are. What makes you, what kind of things you do and then place them in what is right and wrong. The part where CT comes along is when you think "Where did my concept of right and wrong come from? My parents? My surroundings? My religion? Why do i agree or disagree with these concepts?" Then you will compare this to your views. CT means knowing yourself and knowing why you think the way you think. Normal thinking would be comparing and contrasting, whereas CT would be knowing WHY and on which basis are you doing that comparing and contrasting, and i think that is what it means to be analyzing oneself.

  3. Asad,

I think both Sarmad and Observant are right. However, self analysis is purpose driven. There are many aspects to 'the self'; so you need to be clearer about what it is that you specifically want to know, and why.

But pls also have a look at the undermentioned links. These are the popular (and pretty effective) ways of approaching the notion of self-analysis by ones self:
